I was constantly at the edge of my seat with all the grooms’ sporadic planning style. Honestly, I felt in pain watching the ‘planning’ (I use that term loosely) of the big event.

The Groom decided on a ‘Frozen’ themed wedding and of course, in the end the day went really well and the couple were beaming and so in love. However, the day was not without its hiccups. The husband to be didn’t pay a lot of attention to the logistics of the event. The wedding venue was a 2 hour journey away; the Bride’s family were left stranded, when an issue arose with their bus. The Bride almost broke down in tears, when she found out that there was no transport organised for her from the hotel to her wedding! A taxi was called and the beautiful bride spent the first leg of the trip alone, but then was brought by some reindeers and a sleigh the remainder of the way… in the rain…. alone, again…

So of course, the topic we are discussing today is TRANSPORT and a couple of things to consider when planning your big day.

Save the Date

Save the Date cards aren’t always necessary. But, if guests have a long way to travel and will need to book overnight accommodation, it’s best to tell them ASAP.

Travel in Packs

If there is a large amount of your guests staying in the same venue, give them the option of sharing a bus instead of driving 10 cars. This way, guests can mingle and get to know each other and also they won’t be arriving in dribs and drabs.

Your Carriage Awaits

The bride’s transport on the day is extremely important. You can have some fun here and use a vehicle reflecting your personalities like this couple, or just get a fancy, vintage car to enjoy the trip with your loved ones.

You May Kiss The Bride

Finally, make to arrange transport from church to venue, ensure all bus drivers have a schedule, so there is no waiting around once people pour out of the ceremony.

Notice…

Of course, transport is not just arranged on the day, so this will have to be planned in advance for a worry free wedding. When you are doing any rehearsals, incorporate the transport into it and do a dry run, to figure out times for the day’s itinerary.

Hope these help, let us know your top tip for wedding planning in the comments below.

Image via Etsy

I recently watched an episode of ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ on Channel 4.
