Homemade wedding favours are becoming much more popular and are a lovely way to give a personal touch to the wedding.<\/p>\n<p>One of our favourite D.I.Y wedding favours is using homemade soap! It&#8217;s a cool, creative project that you can tailor and personalise to your taste. Soap is also a practical gift, because we all need to wash our hands!<\/p>\n<p>Here are two glorious recipes to make some\u00a0Grapefruit Lavender Soap and Coconut Mint Soap via <a href=\"http:\/\/ahouseinthehills.com\/2014\/3\/25\/a-house-in-the-hills-home-ec-2\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow\">A House in the Hills<\/a> blog.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11416\" title=\"DIY Soap Wedding Favour\" src=\"https:\/\/weddingdates-wp-uk.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/2015\/01\/sopa.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Soap Wedding Favour\" width=\"3000\" height=\"1909\" srcset=\"https:\/\/weddingdates.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sopa.jpg 3000w, https:\/\/weddingdates.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sopa-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/weddingdates.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sopa-1000x636.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/weddingdates.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/sopa-750x477.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3000px) 100vw, 3000px\" \/><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Grapefruit Lavender Soap &amp; Coconut Mint Soap<\/strong><\/h1>\n<address>Yields 7-8 bars of soap per 1 lb bag of shea butter<\/address>\n<h3><strong>Ingredients + Supplies<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Zest of 1 grapefruit<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tablespoons fresh lavender<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons coconut flakes<\/li>\n<li>8-10 chopped fresh sage leaves<\/li>\n<li>15-20 drops\u00a0peppermint essential oil<\/li>\n<li>15-20 drops\u00a0lavender essential oil<\/li>\n<li>1lb bag shea butter<\/li>\n<li>Soap mold<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Method for\u00a0Soap Base<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&#8211; Rinse soap molds to ensure they are free of any residue.\u00a0 Let dry and place on baking sheet to make transporting them later easier.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Check to make sure baking sheet fits in freezer, choose a smaller sheet if it doesn\u2019t!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Melt soap base according to package instructions (we used the shea butter listed above).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; For stove top melting use a double boiler system by filling a large pot with water and putting a smaller pot inside of it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Once water has boiled, place shea butter in smaller pot and turn heat to low\/simmer. \u00a0Cover and heat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Stir every few minutes until shea butter is completely melted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; While soap is melting gather grapefruit zest, lavender, chopped sage, coconut flakes, peppermint oil and lavender oil.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Method for Grapefruit + Lavender<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&#8211; Once soap base has melted let sit for a couple of minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pour out 1 cup of soap base into measuring cup.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Add grapefruit zest, lavender and 15-20 drops of lavender essential oil to measuring cup, stirring frequently so ingredients don\u2019t settle to the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pour into 3-4 soap molds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Use spatula to ensure even distribution of lavender and grapefruit zest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Rinse measuring cup.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Method for Coconut + Mint<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&#8211; Pour remaining soap base into measuring cup and add coconut flakes, chopped sage leaves, and 15-20 drops of peppermint oil stirring frequently.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pour into 3-4 soap molds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Use spatula to ensure even distribution of coconut flakes and sage leaves.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Let sit for 1 hour then place in freezer for 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p>-Soaps should pop out of mold easily with use of a knife to cut around edges.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&#8211; Any heat resistant container can function as a soap mold.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; If using baking dish\/tupperware as a soap mold you may need to spray with cooking oil or use a liner to ensure soap doesn\u2019t stick to pan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Soap base is going to be hot and may burn, handle carefully!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Coconut flakes and grapefruit zest will act as exfoliants. \u00a0If your prefer a smoother soap chop flakes and zest into smaller pieces.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fabulous!
