Love it or loathe it, fake tan is an important consideration for any bride. If you’re an English Rose or just a freckly Irish lass (ahem…), then you know the plight of the pasty woman.

Although you may want to stay true to your self on your wedding, you also need to consider how you’re going to look in photographs. Many cameras these days have a high flash which can rebound off a paler face making it appear featureless. Many a Facebook photo have I been tagged in where I literally have two eyes and a mouth.

Another positive about fake tan is that it can really make you appear more svelte than you actually are. If it’s done right, the same contouring techniques can be applied to your body, which can have a great effect in contrast to your white dress.

Although fake tan may go in and out of fashion in the future, I can assure you it’s here to stay! Upon planning your bridal beauty regime, you should decide whether or not you will wear fake tan on your wedding day.

Brides who are not so keen on the fake tan trend may have a little more consideration to do before making a decision. Even if you don’t usually wear tan, to get a light spray tan done a few days before the wedding. This will give you a nice glow, and have you looking your finest in your wedding photographs!

Bonus Round Tips:

Go to a professional salon to get your spray tan done. No matter how much of an expect you are, mistakes can be made. Anyway, you should be trying to relax in the days before your wedding. Not attempting to apply tan on your back!

Exfoliate every few days beginning a month before the wedding (or earlier if you wish!). This really is the key to achieving the perfect false tan. If your skin isn’t prepared I’m afraid you simply can’t blame the beautician!

Get your spray tan done 2 or 3 days before the big day, this will give your skin a chance to take to it and also give you time to get a top up if you would prefer a slightly darker look.

Once you have washed your fake tan off properly, try on your wedding dress one last time (I’m sure I don’t have to ask you twice!). Be sure that you are happy with the colour teamed with your dream dress. You don’t want to be worrying about this the morning of the wedding!

So give it a go! Especially in these summer months where it’s acceptable to have a nice bit of colour! If you’re unsure, try it a few months before at a salon and ask for the lightest version they have. Then you can gage how long before your big day will you need to get it done. No scrapping your skin off in the shower trying to get rid it the night before.

{Images from: Nadine Leopold and Pop Crunch}

What’s your funniest fake tan faux pas?
