It’s a huge moment for the mother of the bride to really shine and step in to help out during the planning process. Here are some tips and duties for the mother of the bride to carry out:

Meet the Parents

If you haven’t already, after the engagement announcement is a key time to bond with your daughter’s soon to be in-laws. The couple will more than likely initiate this but if they don’t, feel free to organise something yourself! Dinner at a casual restaurant or inviting them over for an evening is usually the best option for relaxing and getting to know each other.

Keep Calm

If you’re daughter has become a little on the bridezilla side of requests, help her with a little perspective. An important role of the mother of the bride is to be the shoulder to cry on but to give a little tough love too! If you have a solid relationship, the bride will trust your opinion and listen to any advice you give her.

Dress the Part

Whether you’re the mother of the bride or any other part of the bridal party, there are some easy rules of the thumb to go by. Firstly, go by the style and theme of the wedding. If it’s casual and beachy, go with that! And if you’re not sure, just ask. While you don’t need to match the bride’s gown, it’s a good idea for both moms go with similar styles. The only major no-no? White! While brides may not mind that rule nowadays for guests, the bridal party should keep away from all white or shades close to it.

Image from Etsy

A wedding isn’t just a big deal for the bride and groom; but it’s also a huge moment for the proud parents.
