We’ve all been there at some point (okay, maybe not smuggling a person out) but we’ve often over packed or maybe just badly packed for a holiday.

If you’ve ever been a back packer or a student living out of home, you may know how to deal with a light packing situation (my personal best is a weekend pack in under five minutes), but long haul trips can be tricky. There is a fine line in bringing the ‘just-in-case’ pieces and packing three electric hair products. Here’s how to pack for your Honeymoon (without carrying three times your weight).

Plan Your Clothes

Have everything you want to wear planned out. Buy/bring items of clothing that can easily be matched with other outfits. There is nothing more frustrating than getting to the end of a trip and lugging around clothes you didn’t even look at. One pair of flats, trainers and heels all corresponding to your outfits is more than enough. Same goes for clutches, purses and totes. Bring enough underwear and tee shirts to last everyday, one dress and a choice of shorts. Any essentials can be found when you’re there!

Don’t Pack Less, Pack Smarter

Sometimes it’s not what you’re packing but how. Try rolling up any clothing items first, which can slotted into your suitcase more. Then, pack heavier and more awkward items like shoes, bags, hats. Also, bring travel sized items where possible. What you will spend, you can save in space.

Research

Call up your hotel, b&b, friend or where ever you will be resting your head on your honeymoon and find our if you will need the following: towels, beach towels, an iron, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryers or any other big items you can leave at home. Remember to check weather conditions to see if there are any noticeable weather changes coming up. Bring ‘just-in-case’ clothes, but limit yourself to one light outfit. Remember, you can always buy something when you’re there.

Image via Unsplash

Trying to fit that third extra pair of shoes into your luggage while simultaneously trying to convince your significant other you’re not smuggling someone out of the country in your suitcase?
