Located just a few minutes’ walk from Colchester town centre, our 14^th century hotel is one of the most romantic settings that you could choose for your wedding celebrations. With history and heart in every beam, and a ‘secret garden’ for those all-important wedding day photographs.

Your ceremony…

We’re a licensed venue, giving you the convenient option of holding your ceremony and reception in the same location. Ceremonies can accommodate 30 to 80 guests and you’ll have the choice of three beautiful suites.

Your reception…

Wedding receptions are held in your choice of three suites for 20 to 160 guests. The largest is The Oak Room, which has its own private entrance, private bar and a large dance floor for you and your guests to dance the night away.

Your wedding breakfast…

Wedding breakfasts are held in your choice of three suites, also able to accommodate 20 to 160 guests.

Your wedding breakfast will be created by our talented team of chefs using fresh, locally sourced produce where possible and catering for all dietary requirements. Our menus are just a starting point, if there’s something that you would like for your wedding breakfast then we’re very flexible.

Your wedding night…

It’s nothing but the best for the newlyweds on your wedding night – you’ll get a complimentary stay in one of our most luxurious four poster honeymoon suites.

Our hotel also offers 39 stylishly appointed bedrooms for your family and friends travelling in for the day, all at a discounted room rate.

queries we had or tending to guests special needs, she was amazing. We met Catherine (Cat) the day prior to our wedding. She excelled to another level, from arranging the table layout, to decorations and music for the ceremony, nothing was too much trouble. She was absolutely delightful and a great asset to this beautiful hotel.

The reception staff were absolutely wonderful, including the waitresses and bar staff.

This delightful hotel and amazing staff makes The Rose and Crown Hotel a magical venue for anyones wedding. We can't thank them enough for a flawless day that we will treasure forever.

We had an absolutely fantastic wedding at The Rose & Crown Hotel and would recommend it to everyone. It was an amazing venue and staff was incredible! It was the best day of our lives and we can't say thanks enough to Sue and her staff who made it happened!

Perfect place for an all-inclusive wedding. Good location, plenty of parking for your guests. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make all the guests feel at home.

mod cons. The four-poster bedroom was spacious and lovely.
The reception room was fantastic. A bit like stepping back into Tudor times. Good for pictures.
Some friends of ours, who went to our wedding, are thinking about having their wedding at this location.
If you want a wedding venue that's full of character with fantastic staff, do not hesitate, just book.

We had a wonderful time at The Rose and Crown. We couldn't ask for a better venue or staff that looked after us. All of our family were made to feel welcome and looked after.
