Our Castle is steeped in a rich history; Shakespeare’s sonnet 127 “The Dark Lady” refers to Anne Vavasour of Hazlewood, Hazlewood features in the Domesday book, and the Castle was formerly a Maternity Hospital in WW1. Whether you’re a historian or not, there’s a special feeling in the Castle that, we’re sure, is thanks to this lavish past - feel it for yourself on your next visit!

Having been sensitively restored and converted into a fabulous destination offering 32 luxury bedrooms, stunning grounds with three wedding venues within, and an award-winning restaurant, we offer excellent services making your event a memorable occasion - your event, above all, needs to be memorable for you. Your wedding is our highest priority, and so we pride ourselves in our attention to detail in every aspect. From timings, to decor, to menus, to music, we work as if your wedding is our own, and so no stone will remain unturned.

Your Wedding at Hazlewood Castle

Why limit yourselves to one potential venue when you could choose from three? It’s a no brainer for us! We’re extremely proud to offer three venues within our Castle grounds:

Our spectacular Great Hall can accommodate weddings for up to one hundred and twenty guests. Think Bridgerton. Think delicate. Think sophisticated, luxurious and everything you’ve ever drooled over on your Pinterest vision board.

Should you want an event with more guests, our Clear Garden Marquee, or one of our marquee wedding packages, may be your choice. The Garden Marquee is the absolute queen of venues. It holds a huge 450 guests at maximum capacity and it really does capture the essence of an outdoor wedding but with all the indoor comforts. The fire pits, heating lanterns, outdoor seating, ‘Caravan Bar’ and street-style food stalls create an incredibly social atmosphere - it almost becomes your own city! Visit the stalls and the bar, bounce from a seating area to the dance floor to the cherry blossom avenue, listen to the live music; it’s all yours. Oh, and at night it turns into a fiery orange party that glows far into the distant countryside. This venue is very popular for dry hire and asian weddings.

As well as having several elegant private rooms licensed for Civil Ceremonies, we are perhaps most proud of our Woodland Wedding Venue. Ever seen those photos on Instagram where the happy couple are having their first married photos taken under a tree laced with fairy lights in the middle of the woods? Ever seen those photos where the wedding bar is romantically wrapped around a tree? Ever seen those snaps of pizza ovens in the forest catering the late night munchies at the wedding party?

Well. They’re at Hazlewood’s Woodland Wedding Venue.

This venue seems to be the topic of conversation for nearly-weds at the moment. In both summer and winter, this venue is special. Summer is a sweet-spot for our woodland venue, and the glorious August sun (when we get it!) is the perfect accompaniment to a whimsical wedding nestled deep in the forest. With a woodland wedding package, your bar is a tree bar, your pizza comes from a purpose built outdoor oven, and your civil ceremony takes place on a charming pagoda surrounded by towering sequoia trees. Your party happens either on an outdoor dance floor or inside a tipi, and you’re engulfed in nature’s finest. But it’s not only a summer location, oh no. Picture this: guests wrapped up, decadent scarves, fire pits glowing, lanterns sparkling, leaves falling. A winter woodland wedding package speaks to our christmas-lovers. The cherry blossom trees, that we so greatly adore, line the outside of a long grassed avenue that leads to an elegant pagoda at the end of it. Either drenched in bright sunlight or thick white snow, the privacy and intimacy the trees bring creates a sense of secrecy and magic. It’s your day. Additionally, we are proud to offer our beautiful and historic St. Leonard’s Chapel to complement your civil marriage with a traditional blessing.

Your Wedding Package

We have meticulously thought about every detail of your wedding. Our team of wedding planners have decades of experience between them in this industry, and have designed bespoke wedding packages countless times. Yet, every time they do, the same care and precision remains. We remove all stress and give you the space to enjoy your day, and indeed the planning process, freely and wholly. What’s vital is that your entire process is handled by one dedicated planner. There’s no miscommunication, no flitting between members of the team, it’s you and them from the initial booking all the way through to tying the knot. On the day, you’ll be provided with your own Wedding Day Manager and professional, friendly staff. This ensures that the experience is what you planned, and nothing else. Your Wedding Day Manager is on-site to offer support & will gladly undertake the role of toastmaster - Hazlewood Castle does not charge for organising any of the above; it’s all part of the service.

We had our wedding here at the beginning of December. The best choice we have made is to hold our wedding in Hazelwood Castle. Fantastic venue, Melissa, Lis and the team are super helpful and organised! Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all for making our special day perfect!!

promptly to correspondence and answered my many queries. Even though the coordinator on the day was not someone I had even spoken to before (which worried me), the handover was seamless and the day went without a hitch! I provided most of the decoration for the castle myself and we had several extras (cocktails, fireworks) and I was impressed at the smooth running of every element - many of my guests complimented the team too. We did have a few niggles with rooms the day before but these were quickly and efficiently resolved.

The gorgeous venue speaks for itself and we have some lovely photos to remember our day. I loved the quirky style of the castle; with its beautiful staircase, fabulous fireplace and old library it certainly gave our guests plenty to talk about even before they saw the grandeur of the main room. All the food was lovely and the wedding breakfast was delicious, again receiving many compliments.

The venue provided a DJ and I was able to send a playlist of "must have" songs which was great.

I'd definitely recommend Hazlewood Castle (they also have a chapel) to anyone looking for a historic and interesting venue with lovely grounds. For information, I had 65 day guests, increasing to 95 at night.

We had a magical day in the woods with this totally unique venue which offered all the whimsy and freedom we wanted, whilst still being affordable. The staff were amazing and it really was the best day of our lives! Can we do it all over again next year??

Hazlewood Castle was the best decision we made for our wedding - any other venue was nothing in comparison. Not only is it a stunning place with plenty of space for a big wedding, including lots of rooms for guests, but the staff are exceptional.

all the questions to ask us to ensure our day was exactly as we dreamed it. She was flexible around those last minute changes thanks to difficult guests, and she was happy to add on a couple of extra, not from our menu meals for those who last minute shared allergies. You hear horror stories of problems with the venue, but this couldn't have been more of a breeze. We felt so special it was like we were the only couple getting married there, even though they were back to back weddings.
On the day, Liz and her team were brilliant and made the day not only go smoothly but exceed our expectations. She ensured the bride and groom always had a drink in our hands, and was good at making sure the bar was well tended enough that guests didn't have to queue for long. She had the perfect balance between making sure we were happy and checking details with us, while also leaving us alone to enjoy the evening.
All the guests commented on what an incredible venue it was (including some saying it made the day or was the best they'd ever seen) and complimented the incredible job the staff were doing.
From the very start of the day, featuring getting ready in the unbelievably huge bridal sweet and breakfast with bubbly, to the end of the night everything was so perfect. The decorations were put up without us even noticing, canapés were brought round at the ideal times and the dinner service was exceptional.
I can't recommend Hazlewood Castle enough, and would love to be part of another wedding there - even if it wasn't my own - because I know it'll be a better experience than I would have at any other venue.
