Ceremony and Reception Rooms

The traditional Drawing room or our Sunken Lawn accommodates up to 100 guests for your ceremony, with the beautiful Signatures lounge or Sunken Lawn available for the reception drinks after your ceremony.

The Garden Suite can accommodate up to 120 guests for a sit-down wedding breakfast and then up to 200 for your evening reception.

Our Bedrooms and Suites

We have 40 bedrooms; 16 elegant and spacious rooms and suites in the meticulously restored historic house, and 24 rooms and suites with delightful views over the gardens and parkland in the contemporary garden wing. We can offer special rates.

What a day we had! Wivenhoe House is amazing and despite it being November we had sunshine all day. The two rooms we used were beautiful with high ceilings and ornate plasterwork and did not need much in the way of added decoration. From start to finish we were looked after by Lisa who was brilliant. Everything we asked for happened with no fuss. Poonam stayed in the hotel for two nights prior to the big day and many stayed that evening to join us for breakfast the next morning which finished off our event perfectly. The rooms were amazing and we would recommend this venue to anyone. We had THE best time, it was perfect.

We first viewed Wivenhoe House at their wedding fair in September 2023, not really knowing what we were looking for. But as soon as my husband and I walked into the ceremony room, we instantly fell in love. The room had such a warm, romantic feel, with sunlight pouring in through the large windows …

and a stunning fireplace—it was just perfect. We didn’t bother looking at any other venues and booked for our chosen date.

Throughout the entire lead-up to the wedding, Louise was fantastic. Communication was excellent; she answered all of our questions, and offered advice, and nothing felt like too much trouble. Whenever Louise was away, Lisa and Phoebe responded to our emails promptly and did everything they could to help.

I stayed in the exclusive room the night before and after the wedding, and this room is stunning. It offers plenty of space with views over the fields, and my daughters were able to sleep there as well, which was wonderful.

The wedding day itself was seamless. Their attention to detail in setting up our reception room brought me to tears—it was simply stunning, and they did an amazing job of bringing my vision to life. One guest described it as feeling like a ‘warm hug.’ Louise kept us on time throughout the day, guiding us and the guests to where we needed to be. The food was excellent; we chose a BBQ main, which was beautifully cooked, and all the guests commented on how lovely it was with its wide variety.

They took care of the music, adding that special touch to our day—I really didn’t have to do a single thing. Phoebe helped out as well, carrying my bag all day, making sure the gifts were handed out, and even comforting my eldest stepdaughter when she became emotional during her speech. This was truly above and beyond and meant so much to us.

The disco was included in the package, and the DJ was fantastic, really reading the crowd. Drinks and food were also included. The service from everyone was exceptional, with friendly and attentive bar staff. It truly was the perfect venue and the perfect wedding!

We just want to say Thank You for making our whole wedding experience relaxed, organised & enjoyable from start to finish. Everything flowed beautifully and allowed us to just embrace the day. We loved every moment and truly appreciate the hardwork & commitment you gave us.

We had the most PERFECT wedding day at Wivenhoe House. The whole team made sure that everything was spot on, from start to finish. It's a day we will never ever forget! I wish we could do it all over again. We cannot thank the venue enough for giving us a wedding day to remember xx
