Folkestone

Situated on the coast of Kent, Folkestone's man made harbour and pier were responsible for the first real growth of Folkestone, strategically located within the site of France across the Strait of Dover.  After years of struggle, Folkestone is now on track for a welcome renewal. The pier is now a chic promenade with restaurants, bars and weekend entertainment. Folkestone is now also home to a regenerated cobblestone Creative Quarter housing hundreds of art studios and galleries, and the town’s pleasant clifftop promenade offers views of France on clear days.  Its position has always made Folkestone a natural transport hub, and today the Eurostar Shuttle leaves for Calais from a suburb of Folkestone. The town also enjoys high speed rail service to London thanks to proximity to Dover. By car, Folkestone is located at the eastern point of the M2 and connects along local roadways to most of Kent and south coast destinations.
