West Sussex

On the south coast on the English Channel is West Sussex bordered by East Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. The county town is Chichester and it’s the only City in the area. Founded by the Romans it has lots of archaeological sites beneath the streets. The other main towns are Worthing, Arun and Horsham. Over half of the county is designated as protected, so it really is beautiful. The South Downs national park, Ashdown Forest, The Weald all lend themselves to hiking, biking and walking trails. Think, country estates, fairy tale castles and river boats. Like East Sussex, West Sussex is the sunniest County in the UK. The coastal destination of Bognor Regis tops the polls for hours of sunshine. The area is even known to have some wine producers. The M23 runs from Crawley to London and where Gatwick airport is located, the second largest airport in the UK. Photo by Kym Ellis via Unsplash.
