Choosing Your bridal Shoe (Freya Rose, Jimmy Choo and Vera Wang... Oh My!)

Choosing Your bridal Shoe

Although your bridal shoe may be hidden under your dress, a shoe can be a really fun way of expressing your personality. The value of a great shoe also extends beyond the wedding day itself; considering how it can be passed down to your daughter as a gift or simply re-worn on special occasions. One bridal shoe designer we have always admired is Freya Rose! We are in love with shoe designer, Freya’s attention to detail as well as the timeless look of her signature pieces. Popular among stores like Browns Bride, Alice Temperley and Philippa Lepley, the classical look of these shoes is extremely popular among brides; so we will be using some of these as examples along the way. With these tips, choosing your wedding shoe will be incredibly easy!

Choosing Your bridal Shoe

Comfort Comes First

No one has ever looked happy in a pair of shoes that they are not comfortable in! If you are a Carrie Bradshaw and live in 6 inch heels, go for it! If you have a more modest take on heels, consider trying a lot of different options before settling on the perfect shoe. From peep toes to straps, each feature will contribute to your comfort level.

Consider Your Bridal Style

Are you a traditional bride? Are you planning a quirky or vintage wedding? Are you a laid-back bride? These factors should be reflected in your bridal style and shoe. This should also make your shoe decision a lot easier. Begin with a Pinterest board or a scrapbook and fill it with you ideas and ideal accessories so that you have all of your inspiration in one place. Once you’ve found your ideal style and shoe height, it can be easily customised with shoe clips and accessories.

Choosing Your bridal Shoe

Dress Accordingly With Your Day

Traditionally, cathedral weddings require closed toe shoes. If you are planning an outdoor day or will be taking a lot of photos near grassy areas, consider a heel that isn’t wrapped in fabric. Alternatively, ask if your shoes can be dyed afterwards (a lot of bridal shoes have fabric that can be dyed, including Freya Rose) to avoid grass stains and scuff marks.

  • Vera Wang

Synonymous with everything bridal, Vera Wang has been at the forefront of bridal fashion since the early nighties, creating stylish options for brides. One of our favourites from her collection, has to be this White by Vera Wang bridal satin shoe, complete with a peep toe and elegant but fun bow. This would be stunning with a tea-length or full gown.

  • Jimmy Choo

The name that enters everyone’s mind when it comes to luxury shoes has to be Jimmy Choo. With a diverse collection of styles, Jimmy Choo has it all. This elegant silk satin pump, Isabel, is a gorgeous example. The kitten heel has gorgeous but understated. In contrast, the ever popular Fayme bridal shoe, is elaborate, with intricate lace detail combining red carpet glamour with romance. Both stunning and will leave you considering if there is merit in a costume change on your wedding day.
