When we saw this wedding, we were immediately in love. On a fresh, early spring day in February of 2013, Jo and Gordon tied the knot and celebrated their day in Manchester Art Gallery. And it may sound cheesy, but you can really feel the love between Jo and Gordon on their big day here. Seriously, we tried to find a photo of Jo where she wasn’t beaming with joy… It was impossible! Photographed by James Tracey, prepare to embrace the fun and love radiating from these wedding photos!
The reasons this couple chose Manchester Art Gallery were pretty obvious. Central, full of culture and life, this venue seems to embody everything about Jo and Gordon. Other than being a gorgeous wedding venue and fantastic location, Jo is an art teacher; which made it an even more ideal setting for them.
It’s clear that there was a fun element to this day too! With Jo arriving in a vintage camper van, wedding photographer, James Tracey mentions that this set off the quirky tone for the day. “The whole theme of the day became obvious, a tea party with a fun nod to Alice in Wonderland”, mentions James. The Vivienne Westwood suit and Jo’s love heart shoes are a great touch to the “Alice” theme too!
James also mentioned that the service was lovely with a small moment of comic relief. “Stephen (the second photographer) and I nearly managed to avoid each other for most of the ceremony, up until the first kiss when we both went for the same shot and bounced off each other. It made us (and the guests) laugh, and we still got the shot!”
Once the ceremony had finished, they were granted exclusive use of the gallery, which resulted in some gorgeous imagery!
A Teacup cake stand, how adorable? So cute!
This was also a second marriage for both Jo and Gordon – “Needless to say, it was emotional, yet very happy!” says photographer James.
