Every once in a while, we come across a wedding venue that we absolutely fall in love with. And because we’re huge fans of London, a venue like Chandos House just enthralls us. The perfect combination of tradition and friendly warmth is instantly met when you enter this masterpiece of a building. We had a quick catch up with Keeley at Chandos House, who gave us an insider peek into how this beautiful venue is run.
Chandos House has a stunning combination of country house charm with a vibrant London life around it. What a great location for your hotel – do your guests love where you are?
I would say one of the main reasons people book with us is the location of Chandos House. If you are going to have a central London wedding I cannot think of a better location than being in between Mayfair and Marylebone, in the heart of the West End. We are lucky that although we are in one of the busiest areas of central London, just a few minutes to Oxford Street, you have a tranquil and quiet location for your wedding. Add the beautiful Craigleith stone exterior and you have a truly unique and picturesque setting!
You are working with brides and grooms every day. What are your favourite wedding trends of the year so far?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular favourite wedding “trend” I personally love the little touches each couple add to make it special to themselves. I have a wedding coming up in which the couple are very fun and vibrant. They are having maracas underneath their guest’s chairs so when they are married and leaving the ceremony room all the guests can play them out of the room. It’s the fun touches like this that make every wedding special and show the personality and individuality of every couple who have their wedding with us.
What do couples love most about your hotel? What makes them go “Wow”?
My favourite quote I have had from a couple when describing Chandos was “it is a special building in that although it true luxury with the beautiful Waterford chandeliers and high ceilings it is grand without being pretentious. It is welcoming to all that come in and has a real warmth and graciousness that people feel the minute they enter” I think this perfectly describes Chandos.
We love how you host intimate ceremonies but can also cater for larger wedding receptions. Tell us the options for brides and grooms!
For weddings we generally will only hire the event rooms out exclusively on Saturdays, however if you are looking for something a little more intimate we can offer wedding celebrations weekdays for up to 30 people. When the house is hired exclusively we can cater for up to 150 guests during a reception.
The day of a wedding must be busy and exciting in Chandos House after months of planning with couples?
Wedding days at Chandos are incredibly busy but very fun! It is a privilege to be able to get to know a couple sometimes over a few years and getting to see their hard work and organization play out on the day. Being able to be a part of one of the most important days in someone’s life is an honour and I am very happy I have been able to view first hand wonderful couples get married. Not many people can say they do that at work 🙂
If you could describe Chandos House in three words they would be. . .
Charming, elegant and intimate.
