Coco Chanel once said; Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury. She also quite famously said, “Where should one use perfume?” a young woman asked. “Wherever one wants to be kissed.”
These are two statements that every lady should stand by. And, when it comes to perfume, everyone knows of a scent that brings them joy! It’s amazing how a scent can remind us of so many enjoyable memories too (a first date for example), so choose your bridal fragrance wisely. Lots of us have a scent that we wear each day and may wear that favourite fragrance on our wedding day, and many may decide to choose a new scent to celebrate their marriage.
Choosing Your Signature Bridal Scent
Summer Bride Vs Winter Bride – Consider light, airy and floral scents that come with spring and summer. Compared winter’s warm, musky, spicy and woodsy scents; these two seasons have very different auras surrounding them.
Ask For Other’s Opinions – Often, we cannot tell how well a fragrance suits us. Asking the opinion of an expert or close friend will give you that subjective opinion. Perfumes suit different people’s skin chemistry and a fragrance expert will be able to tell what suits best by testing a few various options.
Know the Difference Between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette – Understanding the differences between eau de parfum, eau de toilette, eau de cologne and perfume will mean your decision is far more informed. A fragrance expert can easily tell you the differences but the main features to note are to do with with their durability. Eau de parfum and perfume have the longest standing components in them, which is more ideal for bridal wear.
Wear it Well- The pulse points (inner wrists, inner elbow, back of the knees and behind the earlobe) are the best places to spritz a dash of your bridal scent. Remember, it’s important not to spray directly on to your clothing as it may leave a stain. Also, when spraying your fragrance, do not rub your wrists together as it effectively “crushes” the perfume’s components.
Classic Bridal Fragrances
While trying something new is very much part of bridal tradition, there is definitely something to be said for classical fragrances. Here are some bridal favourites that you will love too.
Vera Wang – Vera Wang For Women
If you have been dreaming of the perfect fairy tale day, this is a fragrance to test out. It comprises everything we love about the traditional wedding – romantic white floral notes, a light airy top note and absolute elegance. Since Vera Wang is so well associated with weddings, this is a clear choice.
Jo Malone – Silk Blossom
An interesting blend of spices and floral scents; this fragrance has a fantastic charismatic persona to it! Perfect for a late summer bride, this unusual combination of notes has a versatile appeal to it when it comes to seasons.
Chanel – Coco Mademoiselle
This sunny, elegant, youthful but chic fragrance is a great choice for a summer bride. One of Chanel’s younger parfums, this scent is incredibly popular for it’s combination of strength and sensuality – a classic trait of Chanel products. This is a favourite among staff and a great choice for the modern bride.
Oscar de la Renta – Something Blue
We think the name says it all here. The beautiful balance of floral, citrus, sweet, musk and white floral, practically screams “classic bride”.
Illuminum – White Gardenia Petals
Kate Middleton’s bridal scent… Need we say more? The scent has a great combination; jasmine, lily of the valley, and gardenia. This is fantastic if you love florals too!
