This week, we had the pleasure of speaking to Julia Woods, Wedding Coordinator at The Conservatory at the Barbican. Julia gave great advice to keep cool, calm and collected in the run up to the big day!
“The Conservatory is one of the most unique and beautiful spaces in London for weddings. It’s such a hidden gem that even the majority of people who have been to the Barbican before haven’t been into the Conservatory, and I love seeing the reactions on guests’ faces when they first see it. It also has a very peaceful atmosphere which is a great contrast to the bustle of the City below.”
“When planning a wedding, there are so many decisions to make that it can get overwhelming. Decide together what the most important parts of the day are to you, (is it the ceremony, the food, the band…) and make sure these are the priority when making your decisions. A pre-ceremony glass of bubbles often helps to steady the nerves!”
“As a wedding coordinator I have been asked all kinds of questions but I like to reassure our wedding couples that no question is too small! I really enjoy guiding couples through what works best operationally, while making sure the day is personal to them.”
“It’s always a joy to see the expression on our wedding couples faces when they first walk into the Conservatory and see the scale and natural beauty of it. Photos don’t do it true justice, so it’s always a real ‘wow’ moment’.”
“If I could attempt to describe The Conservatory at the Barbican in one sentence, it would be. . . A beautiful hidden gem in the heart of the City.”
