If you are a bride on a budget or simply want to boost your skincare routine ahead of your big day, these simple tips will be super helpful…
With over 10 year’s experience as a professional MUA, previously part of the renowned MAC Pro Team and having worked backstage at both London and Milan Fashion Week, we caught up with Niki Lawrence to get her expert advice on creating and prepping the perfect bridal look.
DIY Tips
- Apply eye make up before foundation so that you can clean under the eyes if any shadow drops, without ruining your base
- Always use an eye primer to even out the skin tone on eyelids. This also makes eye-shadow shades last longer
- Apply an off-white pencil to the eye waterline for a bright ‘wide awake’ look. This has a great effect but is not as stark as a pure white pencil. Benefit Eye BRIGHT is great for this.
Wedding Prep
In the run-up to your big day, clean your makeup brushes regularly; that means daily for liquid products like foundation, concealer, gel liner, lipstick. A thorough monthly clean will suffice for powder products like blusher, bronzer and eyeshadows. This will ensure your makeup is well applied. Dirty, clogged brushes will not achieve the same results and will spread germs on your skin.
Skincare
Be sure to adopt a good skincare routine of cleansing and moisturising well in advance. My top tip is to apply a facial serum before your moisturiser as this penetrates deeper into the skin to really improve its clarity. Serum also has great anti-ageing benefits when used regularly.
