Possibly the most revered part of the wedding planning process – the seating plan! With family politics, accessibility issues and carefully trying not to offend anyone, there can be a lot of stress when it comes to the seating plan.
We say, why not try something different and go against a seating plan altogether? If you’re not having a very large wedding, why not consider it. Here are some great reasons not to have a seating plan.
If you’re having an intimate wedding, going without a seating plan may add that something extra to the relaxed feeling with everyone mingling according to their own preference.
If you’re worried about leaving every seat unassigned; why not assign guests to tables and let them deicide where to sit. This way, your table plan will have some structure to it while still leaving it up to them.
Creating a feeling of fun and bringing two sides of the family together will be a lot easier if your guests get to mix and match.
No seating plan leaves out the awkward clichés. No embarrassing ‘singles’ table to deal with or a kid’s table.
If you’re afraid guests will be confused as they enter your reception area sans seating chart, make sure that it is mentioned in your invite. As well as this, why not find a cute sign on Etsy to tell your guests they can sit where they like.
Guest list will always be liable to change. Someone will drop out last minute or your mom will ask for an extra invite for the neighbor down the road. If you have a seating plan, every time this happens, you’ll need to make extra place cards or print them out.
