Going on honeymoon is a wonderful right-of-passage for a couple; it’s a chance for you to spend some time together as man and wife and you can forget about the stresses and strains of the all that wedding planning. But honeymoons can sometimes go a bit “Pete Tong”, as many blushing brides and gentlemanly grooms forget to insure themselves for their time away from home. It may be a small detail but one that can save you from shelling out even more money than you already have on the wedding itself.
So, what should you remember when thinking about travel insurance? You need to think about how long your trip is and exactly what you want to be covered for. If you only want to cover the basics such as luggage and cancellation etc then going for a basic travel insurance package from an insurer such as Voyager Travel Insurance would be perfect for you. If you want something more specific then you may have to dip into different insurance policies.
Having lots of different insurances is not always a idea, as they may all link in some way and you won’t know which insurer to use for whatever accident or incident that happens. Finding a package that has everything you need is usually the best way and it’s easy as pie these days as you can use search engines to sift through all the sites available to you.
Also keep in mind how long your trip is, if you’re going for a weekend or a week then a short stay policy would be best for you, should you have a longer holiday but only pick a short stay policy then you won’t be covered for your whole trip. There are other kinds of insurance you should also keep in mind such as hire car excess, breakdown cover and wedding insurance (should you be actually marrying abroad and honeymooning in the same area).
At the end of the day, it doesn’t cost very much to do and even though there may be a low chance of you needing to fall back on it it’s still best to have it there than not at all. You could encounter several serious problems without it and if you don’t have the money to pay out in full for any mishaps then you could end up stuck in that country trying to sort it out, piling up all the bills and generally ruining what should be the best time of your life.
