What are the most popular first wedding dance choices these days?
I don’t think there’s an answer to that! I’ve had all sorts of requests for a real range of songs. From romantic songs from Take That and Etta James to funny tracks such as MC Hammer and ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ as sung by Morecambe and Wise!
The best choice of song is the one which means something truly special to the couple. Above all, choose a song that you both LOVE and will want to dance to again and again. Make it the song that you have at your Golden Wedding Anniversary!
Do you have any starter tips for a groom with two left feet?
The best advice I can give is DON’T WORRY! You’re dancing with the best girl in the room and everyone else in the place thinks you’re the luckiest man. You’re not being judged by the ‘Strictly’ panel so there’s no such thing as ‘going wrong’.
More practical advice I’d give is to try to avoid big steps. Try to help your new bride to keep up with you – you think you’ve got a tricky task…? As Ginger Rogers said “I did everything he did, just backwards and in high heels!” Plus your beautiful has a big dress to contend with.
My last tip is to look at your gorgeous wife! Don’t look at the floor….
What are some of your favourite classic first dance songs?
My favourite song is always the last song I’ve just used as it tends to be stuck in my head. I’m currently humming ‘Ave Maria’ by Beyoncé. One day, I’d love to get the chance to choreograph to the awesome Stevie Wonder. Wouldn’t ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ make a great dance?
I can help create, with the happy couple, a dance that suits their personality, confidence and dance ability. Romantic or funny – you choose!
No previous dance skills are required, and lessons can be held locally or at a location of your choice.
