Wedding Day Jewellery Ideas

Your wedding day is one of the most momentous days in your lifetime and so of course you want every aspect to be just right. When it comes to the planning aspect, often so much of your time is taken up worrying about what could potentially go wrong that it is frequently the smaller details that are overlooked.

One hugely important aspect, which is often looked upon as being a much smaller detail than it should be, is your wedding day jewellery. It’s more than likely that the wedding band will have been picked out for months, but there are other pieces of jewellery that should be taken into consideration too. Whether you’re opting for a traditional wedding or something vintage, your wedding day jewellery is ever so important.

The Style

Wedding day jewellery should be chosen very carefully and a major aspect for you to take into consideration is the style of your wedding. If your wedding is traditional, then your jewellery must reflect this – silver and pearls are best suited. If it is a more glamorous affair then diamonds and extravagant earrings will complement the style perfectly, whereas, if you’d like to inject a little colour into your big day then rubies and emeralds are a simple yet effective way to do so.

The Dress

Your dress should take centre stage and so you should steer clear of statement or bold pieces, as these can often take the attention away from the beauty of your dress. Less is more, so try not to overdo things. The jewellery is there to complement you and your dress, and as such, should be kept simple. This aside, it really is all down to personal taste and the jewellery you choose should reflect your personal style and personality; as long as the piece you choose adds to your outfit and does not take away from it, then it should be considered.

Something Borrowed

As you’re probably aware, weddings are full of tradition and fuss, and as tradition states, “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” What better way to incorporate these traditions into your big day than to do so with your jewellery – whether you choose to borrow something from your mother or grandmother, or choose to treat yourself to a gorgeous vintage piece. If you’re planning your wedding on a budget then fear not, wedding day jewellery does not have to cost you the earth. Opting for faux pearls or diamonds can save you a small fortune and if you spend time hunting down good quality copies, your guests are likely not to be able to tell the difference. Alternatively, why not keeps costs down even further and rent (or borrow) the jewellery for your big day. This way, you get your dream piece with an even dreamier price tag.

Remember not to leave jewellery until last minute, or else you’re likely to impulse buy which is when things can (and often do) go wrong. Of course all of the above is a long way off and you may not yet even have found an engagement ring to adorn your finger with. If you’re in search of the perfect engagement ring, luxury jewellers such as Pragnell are a great place to start your search.
