5 Times You Will Feel Anxious Ahead Of Your Wedding

The run-up to your big day will be a mixture of emotions and anxiety. Everyone feels wedding nerves and jitters at some stage.

Here’s five times you are likely to feel utter panic and how to cope with the situation like a true boss…

Wedding Nerves

The Thought Of All Eyes On You

Some people naturally thrive in the limelight. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying being the centre of attention, but many brides-to-be don’t feel comfortable with the idea of having all eyes on them. And, that’s okay too.

Solution: If you’re feeling anxious, remember that these people aren’t strangers. Your guests consist of family and your wide circle of friends. They will be absolutely chuffed to share your special day with you. If you’re feeling super nervous, try to focus on the task at hand and break the day down into small steps to prepare yourself mentally.

When Reality Hits

Okay, shizzle just got real. Reality will probably hit a few days prior to saying ‘I Do’. I mean, you are literally about to become someone’s husband or wife. When did we all become so grown-up?! Freaked!

Preparing The Speech

Pretty much 99.9% of people will break out in a cold sweat at the thought of making a wedding speech.

Solution: Practice makes perfect. Balance humour, heartfelt sincerity and anecdotes throughout – and don’t forget to thank those who helped and supported you in your journey to marriage. Ask for help from family members if you’re stuck or feeling uncertain.

Finalising Those Last Details

The last hurrah before the main event will seriously test your willpower. Between finalising seating plans, putting together a wedding day timeline, organising last minute details with your venue and suppliers, is it any wonder most couples fluster about in sheer panic. I mean what if something goes wrong and is completely out of your control?!

Solution: Enlist the help of you’re Wedding Coordinator and members of the bridal party – after all, it is their job to help. During the final month beforehand, allow time in your schedule for a relaxing spa day or yoga class. Unwinding is key to your sanity at this point in time.

Right Before You Walk Up The Aisle

This is probably the most nerve-wracking part of the day. Your bridesmaids are be lined up and ready to roll. You can hear the ceremony music playing. Seconds feel like hours as you inhale deeply whilst waiting for the church doors to open before you walk up the aisle…

Solution: Look to your dad or whomever is walking you up the aisle for moral support. Remember, this is a happy and exciting time. Just think, in less than one hour, you will be married to the love of your life. Swoon!
