Planning your wedding may seem a little daunting at first, but with the right expert advice, it really can make a difference. We caught up with Kellie from Swindon South Marston Hotel and Spa for some expert tips on planning your wedding.
If you had some words of advice for newly engaged couples starting out on their planning what would they be?
I have found that weddings can cause close family and friends to offer advice, whether or not you have asked for it! Remember this is your day as a couple, so follow your heart. Start off by defining what your dream day with your partner. How does it look? Use descriptive words to shape your vision. From there, this should help every decision you make. ‘Is this décor rustic/elegant/chic/vibrant enough?’
You have probably seen a lot of nervous brides and grooms on their wedding day! What is a good way for them to keep calm and collected?
Just remember why you are getting married. You love each other and can’t wait to spend the rest of forever by each other’s side. And if that fails (although, it’s a great reason!), just remember that the ceremony is just one part of the day. It may feel like a performance with all those people watching, but they are also there to support you.
What song do you think should be played at EVERY wedding? We don’t mind if it’s cheesy!
Shania Twain – From this moment. Very cheesy, but sometimes cheesy is good! Still The One works too!
What are the most common questions you get asked? What do couples worry about?
Couples realty worry about the weather, the only part of the day that can’t be planned. However, it will not make a difference to the special day you will have (or how much fun your guests will have). The most common question is “What is a wedding breakfast?” the term breakfast can confuse people!
How far in advance do your couples decide on their menus? That must be fun!
Usually somewhere around 3 months, we do a wedding food taster to show the presentation of the food. Couples really do love this part, firstly because it all becomes real for them. And secondly, it’s a great excuse to not have to plan dinner for that night!
