4 Ways To Save on Your Wedding Budget

wedding budget

The idea of planning a wedding can be exciting and a little scary at the same time.  Planning a huge event requires time and careful thought on your budget. We’re all guilty of going over budgets from time to time (just look at my account balance at the end of the month), but your wedding doesn’t have to be that way!

Here are three very simple ways to save on your wedding budget:

Pick a number that won’t put you in debt

Be realistic with yourselves as a couple. The average wedding costs about £20,000, so unless that money is already saved somewhere, why not save up until you get to the target budget figure. Or at least 80 % of the way there!

What do you want to spend money on?

If you love music and you want to make the band the focal point of your day – great! Offset that expense with less expensive décor or invitations. Choose where you want to splurge and where you don’t mind scrimping.

Food and Drink

No matter what your budget, food and beverages nearly always take up half of your overall budget. Because of this, it’s wiser to nail down this cost and the other most expensive costs first!

Hire a Wedding Planner

It may seem like an extra cost, but a good wedding planner will help with your overall spending. While friends and family may be helpful, a wedding planner will dedicate their time to you and obviously have experience in doing so!
