Happy Monday all! We have always been fascinated with a wedding venue that has a story and Legacy Dukes Head Hotel offers just that. Located in the maritime town of Norfolk, Legacy Dukes Head Hotel has a very interesting history to it. We caught up with Hannah at the hotel to give us a behind-the-scenes look into this gorgeous wedding venue….
Legacy Dukes Head Hotel has some gorgeous architecture. How far does the front facing part of the Hotel date back to?
Sir John Turner purchased the ‘ancient inne ye Gryffen’ in 1683 and demolished it, saving the grand staircase. The Dukes Head was then completed in 1689. It is commonly believed that the Duke referred to is James II (1633-1701) when Duke of York.
What is your favourite part of the hotel that you like to show to couples?
One of my favourite parts of the hotel to show a couple is the grand staircase, where many couples like to have photo’s taken on their wedding day. This is the original staircase from the hotel and holds a lot of history. The staircase also leads up to our Sandringham Room which is used as a bridal suite with its fantastic crystal chandelier and plush furnishings
What do couples love most about your hotel? What makes them go “Wow”?
There are plenty of areas within the hotel that can make a couple go ‘wow’ and to be honest this can be different for each couple! Generally the overall feel and atmosphere in the hotel can make a couple go ‘wow’ as you will find many do not quite realize how gorgeous the hotel is until being shown around.
The day of a wedding must be busy and exciting in Legacy Dukes Head Hotel after months of planning with couples?
Yes, the day of the wedding is very busy although all details are planned and preempted to ensure that the couple’s most special day runs smoothly. We have just had our first wedding of the season which was very exciting and the start of many more to come!
If you could describe Legacy Dukes Head Hotel in three words they would be…
