5 or more years ago china and cake stands were long a thing of the past. People had banished out their mother’s delicate china in favour of contemporary and sleek looks. The careful craftsmanship of beautiful Aynsley tea cups seemed too ornate and fuddy duddy. But after a long time of gathering dust in your nan’s cupboard, china in particular, cake stands have made quite a come back in the last two years.
Having worked in a china shop before, I’m personally thrilled to find that people still appreciate cake stands after all these years. I’m not sure if it’s because there’s an old lady in me somewhere or just my genuine love of all things tea time but there’s nothing that beats a cute cake stand at a party. In fact, looking at these pictures brings back wonderful memories of my grandmother’s gorgeous china that she has kept over the years. The styles were often quite eccentric and colourful.
Cake Stand Heaven do fantastic new and vintage china in the UK while Me Auld China are an Irish company have a rental cake stand service as well as a ‘pimp my plate’ service where they customise. Infact, Me Auld China started off when a bride bought a 1950’s cake stand for her wedding!
