When it comes to etiquette and the modern wedding, it can be hard to get it right. So much has changed in terms of tradition in the last few years, that it can feel like you have to make up your own rules as you go along. Here is part two of our etiquette tips in the modern wedding.
Social Media and Your Wedding Photos
A VERY tricky one. Some couples love seeing ‘behind the scenes’ versions of their day. But others may get offended that you have posted photos without their permission. They may not also be happy with unflattering photos of the day being up when they have hired a photographer. Watch out for signs of permission to post your photos online (e.g notes or boards with hashtags) or notices/messages asking people not to post photos. Whether or not you agree with the couple’s description, the important thing is to respect their wishes.
Destination Wedding Gifts
If you’re attending a destination wedding and it costs more than you have expected, are you obliged to give a gift too? While your attendance at a destination wedding is a gift in itself, there is still an obligation to give them something nice. If the wedding is in their hometown, give them something that can be used there. Gifts don’t always have to be over the top expensive to be meaningful either.
