In honour of National Bridesmaid’s Day today and to celebrate the wonderful ladies in your life – especially at a time of uncertainty and solidarity – here are Fizzbox’s favourite Bridesmaids from the big screen. Why not download some of these classic movies to watch?
BRIDESMAIDS
Annie, Helen, Rita, Becca and Megan
(Kristen Wigg, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper, and Wendi McLendon-Covey)
Top of the list has to be the epic Bridesmaids, Annie, Helen, Rita, Becca and Megan in Bridesmaids the movie. During the movie we watch the trials and tribulations of the run up to Lillian’s wedding and the hilarious antics they get up to. If you need some light entertainment at the moment, this is a must, or if you just need a laugh skip to Annie’s plane scene or the bridesmaid shop. Comical genius!
MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING
Julianne Potter
(Julia Roberts)
As Bridesmaids go, Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding wouldn’t win any best Bridesmaid awards. Her character Jules is madly in love with her best friend Michael and has four days to sabotage his forthcoming nuptials.
His Bride-to-be, played by Cameron Diaz, decides to make Jules her Maid of Honour – not a wise move.
This is a refreshingly entertaining romantic comedy with some fantastic characters, a lighthearted feel-good movie to watch.
27 DRESSES
Jane
(Katherine Heigl)
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride; that was the theme of the 2008 romantic comedy, 27 Dresses.
Jane (Katherine Heigl) is bridesmaid at 27 weddings – and keeps all 27 colourful bridesmaid dresses stored away in her Manhattan apartment.
If ever there was a prize for the best Bridesmaid, she would be a fine contender, after running to be a bridesmaid at multiple weddings in one night!
CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC
Rebecca Bloomwood
(Isla Fisher)
Based on the best-selling British novel, Confessions of a Shopaholic follows Rebecca Bloomwood (the fantastic Isla Fisher) and her compulsive shopping addiction. Here she even tries to sell the hot pink cocktail dress she was meant to wear as the Maid of Honour at her best friend’s Suze’s wedding. Luckily, she gets it back – just in time for her friend’s big day!
