Your honeymoon should be the best holiday or trip you ever take. Honeymoons are a great opportunity to really splash out and do something a little different. They’re also a great excuse to travel if you’ve never been to many places. Personally, I think travelling really does wonders for a person and can be fascinating to experience the culture of another land. So, if you’re travelling far for your honeymoon, do it right! Here are some honeymoon checklist tips:
Photography
While some love having their photo taken, many people shy away from the camera. Your honeymoon only happens once, so documenting your experience is so important! Whether you’re instagraming the trip or using a disposable camera, you will always remember moments surrounding those images. If you’re deciding to use film, remember to ask for the film to be taken out of the security scan at airports. Scanning unused film decreases it’s quality!
Packing
As we mentioned before in our Honeymoon Packing post, pack the essentials! You definitely do not need 6 pairs of shoes. And forget the hairdryer!
Here is a guideline of what you may need:
- Passports
- Tickets/ Hotel booking printouts
- Chargers
- Adapters
- Small umbrella
- Zip lock plastic bags
- Make up
- Hair Brush
- Underwear
- Change of clothes (bring clothes for half the amount of days you will be away)
- Insect repellant and sunblock
- Sunglasses
- A good book/ iPod/ Kindle
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance may be a small price to pay for peace of mind. The best plans are always the ‘cancel for any reason’ plans. Whether it’s work, a family emergency, medical issues, baggage loss, it always pays off to have that security blanket!
Roaming
Before you leave, pay a visit to your phone provider to find out the best roaming policies for your phone. There may be a plan you can go on for international rates. If you have a smartphone, Skype and Viber are always good options. For a longer trip, consider buying a cheap prepaid phone or buying prepaid calling cards. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, ditch the phones altogether and just work from the hotel computers for email access and Skype.
