Hi Suzie, How long have you been working at Kingsway Hall Hotel?
Collectively the Wedding Events team have worked at Kingsway Hall Hotel for 3.5yrs and I have personally organised in excess of 50 weddings.
Have you always wanted to be a Wedding Co-ordinator?
Since the age of 15 years, I have dreamed of planning what is the most important day in any two people’s lives. I think there is no better feeling than the one you get of being a part of someone’s magical day and knowing that you’ve helped it all go off without a hitch.
What is your favourite part of your hotel to show off to couples?
It’s hard to pinpoint a specific part of the hotel as all of our rooms lend themselves so well to weddings but if I had to pick one I would say the Harlequin Suite. This room is a wonderful canvas for the really creative bride to put her own special touch to. It has a gorgeous glass panel staircase leading down to the main room which is a fabulous way for the bride and groom to make their entrance.
How do you prepare as Co-ordinator?
I have to be very meticulous with every detail. I don’t want to overlook anything. I also think it’s important to build a good relationship between myself and the couple. I think as a result I get more nervous than they do on the day!
How do you relax in your spare time?
I like nothing more than relaxing with friends and treating myself to a little pampering.
If you could describe Kingsway Hall Hotel in three words, what would they be?
Your perfect venue!
You are working with brides and grooms every day. What are your favourite wedding trends of the year so far?
So far this year I’ve seen a lot of sweet tables, which I think is a lovely touch for the evening, and everybody has a bit of a sweet tooth however much they might disagree! On the subject of a sweet tooth, I’ve also noticed a lot of people opting for cupcakes over a traditional 3 tier wedding cake. I’m also a big fan of these and I think it injects a little fun and it’s a great way for each guest to take home their own little piece of the day.
