Woohoo! You’re finally in countdown territory – and it’s only a matter of days until you say I Do! Time to get out that planner and finalize some last minute tasks before the big day…
Pick Up The Dress & Suits
Have one final fitting the week before your wedding to allow time for any last minute alterations. Picking up your gown will be your first realization that YES this wedding is happening in a matter of days! Your tummy will be a mix of nervous butterflies and sheer excitement, and it will feel absolutely fantastic.
Final Payments To Suppliers
Confirm final details with all your vendors. This will include giving the photographer your must-have shots, giving the band/DJ your ultimate playlist and updating your make up artist and driver with correct timings. Place money and cash tips into separate envelopes, marked clearly for each supplier. Give these to a trusted family member on the day, who will make the final payments and tips on your behalf.
P.S be street-smart and give an emergency contact to your suppliers. Someone getting lost en route would be major disaster territory.
Run Through The Day-Of Timetable With Your Bridesmaids
Send your main ladies a quick message with a run-through of the morning of your wedding. This will include the time of hair and make up appointments, who will help you get ready and any time designated to picture taking before the ceremony. Knowing a rough timetable of events will help everything to run smoothly on what is already a hectic and busy morning.
Assign Any Final Duties
Paying your suppliers, looking after gifts from guests, helping you get ready and taking general charge of the bridal party on the day. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it – and that’s what the Best Man and Maid of Honor are for! 😉
Look After Out-Of-Town Guests
Are family and friends flying in from abroad? Touch base prior to their arrival, this catch up will allow you to finalize all the details such as directions to the wedding and those all-important after party details. If you’re feeling sound, you might even collect them from the airport or meet up for drinks ahead of the big day. They will appreciate spending quality time with you after travelling long-distance.
Confirm Transport For The Bridal Party
Leaving your bridal party stranded after the ceremony is hardly ideal. If you have not hired a private transport company to chauffeur the bridesmaids and groomsmen to your reception, be sure to organise alternative arrangements. The same applies to any close family members who may not be driving on the day.
Church Rehearsal
Check with your celebrant or priest if a rehearsal is necessary. Inform your bridal party with details of the run-through, this is usually held one to two days prior to the wedding. It’s also a good opportunity to practice walking up the aisle in your heels!
Pack Overnight Bag & Emergency Supplies
Don’t forget to throw your overnight bag in the trunk – and some emergency supplies! With our weather as unpredictable as ever, an umbrella is essential! Cover-ups to battle the cold, flat shoes for all that dancing and your bridal SOS kit will be lifesavers too.
Beautify Yourself
Confirm your final beauty appointments such as your tan and nails at least one week in advance. You’ll (hopefully) be work and stress-free in these final few days. Relax and enjoy some well-deserved pampering and TLC as the excitement begins to build.
Enjoy!
Your wedding day passes in a flash – and you’ll never get this time back. Remember, sit back, savor the moment and just enjoy things!
