Before we say anything else, we have to say, congratulations! Months, maybe even years of planning have happened before this week so on that note, let us also say that this will be the fastest week of your life. With so much hustle and bustle, the one week before your day is really going to fly, so keep on track and remember to do each of the following…
Final Payments
Are there any last installments you owe to suppliers or your wedding venue? Now is time to either settle them or make payment plans for after the big day. Confirm what is left due and assure them when they will be paid. This is important for morale too! Tipping is more customary in America but if someone has done an outstanding job on you’re wedding, make sure to arrange a tip for them on the day. Also, for suppliers who will be there for the entire day, it may be worth offering them a meal during the reception. A wedding is a long affair for a photographer!
A Run-Down of The Day’s Schedule
Confirm your schedule with your wedding team and let them know what time they should expect you at as well as how long you will be taking wedding photos for. Then, give them a list of your speeches and ask order of the days events. It may be worth asking who will be there on the day to organise these events as well as who your suppliers can liaise with. Remember to give your suppliers the wedding venue number and visa-versa. It may also be worth appointing a bridesmaid to be the port of call to your wedding venue and suppliers on the day as you may be a little too busy!
Confirm Any Specific Requirements
Do you have an Aunt who is a celiac? Maybe you have asked your wedding photographer for a specific photograph to be taken. Either way, go over these small details and confirm them with suppliers to refresh their memory. And remember to get confirmation in written form… Just in case!
Vows and Toasts
Write any vows or toasts if you are planning to say anything special on the day. It may be something you have been working on in your mind for some time, but get it down on paper now! Remember to proof it with someone who is good at or has experience with speeches. There may be a joke in there that only a handful of people will get or a phrase that you might have accidentally picked up wrong. Once it’s ready to go: practice, practice, practice ‘till you get it right!
Overnight Bag and Emergency Kit
Grab your essentials for the day after and pack them in an overnight bag – don’t forget a little Nurofen! A bottle of water by your nightstand may also be more than helpful the next morning. As well as this, your emergency kit will be a life-saver on the day. Either, stow it away in the ladies room or leave it to the front reception desk. Everything and anything needs to be in this bag too (from Vaseline, to pins, tampons, nail files, make-up wipes… Everything!). This will be your “Murphy’s Law” bag.
Pack Your Honeymoon Bag
If your honeymoon or mini-moon is shortly after the big day, plan it now. Pack some essentials while you still have wedding planning energy. Remember that you may need some of those now, which is why the “3 for 2” on travel sized items in Boots are amazing! If you are planning a sun holiday a few months from now, it may be an idea to do your summer shopping now. Bikinis and other summer wear will be a lot less pricy now and towards the end of summer season.
