Cirencester is a market town dating from Roman times, east of the Cotwolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Located in South West England close to Wales, the Cotswolds attracts many visitors to the area every year. The Kings head is centrally located within Cirencester which means you and your guests have every convenience on your doorstep in this historical venue.
The Kings Head, a coaching inn dating back to the 14th century, has a rich history in the town of Cirencester. Owned by Robert Strange in the 16th century and later passed down to his great grandson, the property was eventually inherited by Katherine, the wife of Sir Robert Jocelyn.
Having being owned by several different families over the years, it was purchased by the Right Hon Seymour Henry Earl Bathurst in 1893 and remained under his ownership until 1935. Today, the Kings Head is a listed building of special architectural and historical interest.
In the early 2000s, a local property developer bought the hotel and expanded it to include 75 bedrooms, two restaurants – Grill at Kings Head Hotel and MBB Brasserie, a bar, a lounge area, and a Vaulted Spa on the lower ground floor. The hotel also features Corn Hall Cellars Wine Shop and Corn Hall Deli offering locally sourced treats from around the Cotswolds, as well as its own gin.
The Kings Head has a variety of event spaces suitable for both large and intimate celebrations. The Assembly room, with its high ceilings, chandelier, and wooden floor, can accommodate up to 150 people for the Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast and 200 people for Evening Celebrations.
The Vaulted Cellar, historically used by monks, can hold up to 80 people for the Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast and 150 people for Evening Celebrations. Exposed bricks, arched walls and ceilings really give this space the instant wow factor.
The Wine Cellar is an intimate space that can accommodate up to 18 people for a ceremony and breakfast, while the Panel Room can hold up to 30 people. The Library, with its bookcase wall and antiques, is a quiet and intimate space for up to 24 people.
Undeterred by its town centre location the property boasts two gorgeous outdoor spaces – The Courtyard and The Terrace where you can dine, drink or dance to your heart’s content. You or indeed your guests can indulge in some luxurious Elemis treatments at The Vaulted Spa during your stay.
The hotel’s team is passionate about making guests’ experiences enjoyable and memorable.
