I think when it comes to weddings, every bride and couple realize early on that there are only a number of aspects of the wedding they want to splurge on. While you may not want to fork out a huge wad of cash to a wedding band, you may fall in love with some glamourous cakes. For me, although I’m currently not engaged or making any official wedding plans, I already know the one major thing I want to spend on (besides the venue), and that is photography.
For a million reasons, I would certainly put photography in front of the dress, the food, music etc. Personally, I want to capture those moments forever. And I also consider myself to be quite a visual person (my Instagram profile can’t go half a day without being updated) and find myself drooling over compositions instead of cakes in wedding photos.
Anyway! If you’re a little like me and you want a top notch wedding photographer, you must be willing to fork out the cash. And if you’re even more like me, you’ll be pretty thorough in your research for a an amazing wedding photographer. Here are some key questions to ask them:
What is your preferred style of photography to use? Traditional, artistic, natural light, photojournalism?
How many weddings have you shot in your career?
Do you shoot more than one wedding a day? Will you stay throughout the day?
Have you shot at my venue before? If not, are you willing to visit the site beforehand?
Do you bring your own lighting?
Do you follow a shot list? if you do, can I see it? If not, can I request some photos?
How many hours are included in your package? What are your overtime costs?
Do you bring a second shooter?
How many images do you take at the wedding? How many weddings will I see?
Do I receive a disc of images or do I have to order all prints through you?
Is an album included?
Will you use my images for advertising?
How much is the deposit?
Do you include engagement photos in your package?
When do we need to give our final decision by?
