During the stressful time of planning a wedding, the little saviour for many couples is the honeymoon. Woo hoo! Time to take some R&R (well deserved too) to be husband and wife for the first time. Originally, the honeymoon time was a short period of time for the couple to get to know each other more intimately but since many couples experience sex before marriage in today’s world, it’s also now seen as a time to relax and unwind a little.
So, prepare yourselves for a stress-free trip before the honeymoon with a few small tips…
Give yourselves two days before the honeymoon to prepare and get all of your affairs in order. Have you checked in? Confirmed hotel bookings? Planned sight-seeing? Packed your honeymoon essentials?
While confirming your bookings, remember to slip in that it’s also your honeymoon. Many hotels, restaurants and transport will give you the royal treatment as a good will gesture!
If you’re not planning the honeymoon immediately afterwards, why not have a little staycation first? Many couples prefer to save for the honeymoon the following year rather than stress over two big expenses at once.
Another idea is to book something all-inclusive. If you’re not looking for a major sight-seeing/cultural experience, all-inclusive packages at top hotels could be just what you need. Make sure to make the most of any spa facilities!
And if you’re really looking to unwind, why not have an unplugged honeymoon? While it may be important to dip into emails, leave out Facebook and Twitter update check-ups. Calls home are definitely a must and if you can’t go cold turkey for the whole trip, just try one day!
