A family affair with a crazy colour theme. Sharifa and Carl celebrated their wedding at BEST WESTERN PLUS Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel on May 23rd surrounded by their nearest and dearest. The bride looked beautiful in a princess style gown adorned with beading and bling. Lauren Twigg Photography captured every detail of their special day – and you need to check out the flower girl and page boys, they’re SO CUTE!
It was love at first sight for Sharifa and Carl when they met at her cousin’s engagement party 10 years ago. Within three months Sharifa had made the big move from London to West Yorkshire in June 2005. Two years later in 2007 they bought their first home together and went on to have two little boys.
Fast forward eight years and Carl popped the question in true romantic style on a family holiday in Filey with the couple’s two children and Sharifa’s nephew. “Carl took me out one evening to the light house at Flamborough Head which is one of the first places he took me back when we first dated. It’s a very special place for my husband and I. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. He got down on one knee with a stunning ring and asked me to marry him after a few special words. Of course, I said YES straight away! It was so emotional, I was crying with joy. He made me the happiest women in the world that night.”
“We have been together 10 years, have 2 sons and a house together, so getting married to us was like the icing on the cake. It completed us as a family. I now have my happy ever after.”
“We looked at a lot of wedding venues before finally deciding on the BEST WESTERN PLUS Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel. When we first went to view it, we had such a warm welcome from Karen – it felt perfect for us. The room layout was ideal and the grounds are beautiful. We were looking for good prices on hotel rooms as I had lots of family travelling from London. Also, being the only wedding at the venue on the day was really important to us. I think it’s very important when arranging a wedding to have a helpful Wedding Coordinator on hand. Karen was wonderful. Always their when I needed help or support from the very beginning to the end of our wedding. All the staff were fantastic. Every time there was a change of server, they came and introduced themselves and during the room change-over, Carl and I were asked to view it first to see if we were happy before our guests came back in. It was first-class service all day long!”
“Our photographer Lauren Twigg is a friend, so I always knew I wanted her to take our wedding pictures. I have seen her work many times and always at a very high standard. I did not want someone I didn’t know or someone I did not feel comfortable with. Lauren was amazing on my wedding morning and helped close my dress as it was a corset style. She was happy to help which was lucky for me as we were running out of time!! Lauren is so friendly, bubbly and caring – both her and her colleague were fantastic when it came to organizing group shots leaving both myself and my husband completely stress-free. I could not thank her enough for how amazing she was!”
“We had a very funny moment in the church when myself and my husband bent on the pray pillows. The place erupted with laughter as Carl had left the price tags on his shoes!!”
A huge thank you to Sharifa and Carl for sharing their magical day with WeddingDates and to Lauren Twigg who kindly showcased these images. You can see more of Lauren’s work and contact her at www.laurentwiggphotography.com
