Shopping for a wedding dress probably seems like a daunting task. There are plenty of options out there but only one right for you. Like any shopping trip, the key is to be open minded as well as keeping your options open. Here are some tips that will help you along the way.
Listen to Your Instincts
Whether or not you are currently trying on a designer gown, if you don’t feel like a million bucks, it won’t make a difference. If you feel amazing and it just so happens to be a cocktail dress, that’s okay too! You know yourself best whether or not you really believe it. Whereas a sales person has only just met you and is trying to figure you out.
If You Bring Someone, Make Sure You Trust Their Opinion
Some people love to shop alone, others love having opinions. Personally, I’m a lone wolf shopper. I trust my own opinion and I know when something suits me. I trust the opinion of one person and that is my sister. But, everyone is different. Bring someone who you feel is honest but not overly critical. Or go by yourself and have a sales assistant photograph you!
If You Don’t Know, Ask
Not sure why this dress costs so much more than the others? Don’t understand the dress sizes? Just ask. Sales assistants are there to answer any questions you have and there is no such thing as a silly question when you are buying a wedding dress.
Remember, You Run The Show!
If you feel you’re being body shamed or pushed into a concept you’re not comfortable with, there is no reason why you can’t ask for another sales assistant. There is every type of sales person out there and there will always be someone perfect for helping you. If you’re uncomfortable at all – feel free to leave. Ultimately, it is you’ll be the one wearing the outfit.
Bring Appropriate Gear
A good fitting bra, a loose band to tie up your hair and a spare pair of heels will definitely come in handy. The boutique you visit may have at least two of this in store but there’s no harm in being prepared.
