When it comes to social media and planning your wedding, there is no doubt that it has completely changed how couples are planning their weddings. Long are the days of phoning up every single friend to announce your engagement. Last week we spoke about the etiquette of using social media at your wedding, and the do’s/don’ts of that but we’ve also noticed another huge trend in weddings, online wedding planning.
According to Mashable, one in ten (8%) brides are updating their Facebook relationship statuses with minutes of saying “yes,” with nearly one in three (31%) doing so within hours other their engagement.
But the really interesting factor is 79% of brides becoming fans of big wedding brands and two in five using Pinterest to show the
ir vendors ideas they like. These brides are also using Pinterest to share ideas with their wedding party and family. Brides are ditching the cumbersome emails for quick links to pins.
Brides are more and more using Facebook and Twitter to share everything about their big day. Just over half (51%) to share progress updates, while others are sharing registry information and photo updates of the planning process. From this it seems like the etiquett
e has shifted to brides becoming more open and sharing about their finer wedding details.
When it comes to the actual day, some brides say they want their official wedding photo to be the first their friends and family see on Facebook. The other 62% say they are comfortable with guests posting photos live during the wedding reception.
