A fabulously patriotic and musical themed wedding with a tribute to a very special band…
Both Britpop enthusiasts and huge fans of bands such as Blur and The Bluetones, Jamie always joked that he would meet his perfect match at a Blur gig… but then they split up!
Alas, at a gig in Tunbridge Wells, he met the guitarist from the group. After posting his epic pictures to a Facebook fan page, fate made its match. Helen had also been to see the same performance and uploaded her favourite moments too. He liked some of the snaps and decided to message her. Fast forward two years of chatting on cyberspace, a first date in London and the rest is history!
In honour of the 1960s/1970s and Britpop musical eras, they added unique details to personalise their big day. A colour scheme of red, white and blue pulled their theme together perfectly.
“Our friends have two classic Beetles and we were lucky enough to be chauffeured around for the day in their 1967 cream soft top! We had vinyl record CDs made with our favourite love songs on. We bought a stamp to make each one individually numbered like rare 7″ singles. We used heart-shaped hole punchers to make red and blue confetti to decorate the venue. We also cut confetti from sheet music of one of our favourite albums.”
“To keep everyone entertained, we made children’s gift bags with toys, treats and bubbles and we put music quiz questions on the tables for the adults! We found a fab seller on Etsy called Love Me Do Designs who created our invites, table plan and place cards that all followed the record theme. Then in the evening we had a bit of an indie disco and a Britpop bonanza!”
“I came across The Leeds Club on Facebook. I’d never heard of it before. They were having a wedding fair, so we thought we’d check it out. From the minute we walked in everything felt right. I could envisage how the whole wedding would be, what we would wear, everything! It just had something special about it. I loved the period features and the fact it is slap bang in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but as soon as you step inside it’s a little oasis of calm with an air of quiet elegance.”
“The complete stand-out point was the staff at The Leeds Club. They were faultless. They were so attentive all day long and went the extra mile to ensure everything went perfectly. We had a few personal touches as we wanted decor and details on the tables so we gave them a plan of what we wanted. They executed it to the letter and then made it all just a little bit better than what we expected. Just perfect!”
The bride in the red shoes wore the prettiest vintage tea length dress called Daisy by House Of Mooshki.
“I bought my gown from a local bridal boutique called Lace & Co. The ladies were so helpful! I had dreamed of a tea length vintage style dress and was spoilt for choice in there! It was in there that I also stumbled across my beautiful dream red heels! They are by Charlotte Mills and finished the look off perfectly, along with a birdcage veil.”
Their adorable daughter Eliza stole the show on the day as the couple’s flower girl. The day was super cool and fun-filled, where their family and friends could relax and enjoy themselves.
“We were incredibly lucky that one of our best friends also happens to be a fantastic photographer! Working with Anthony Longstaff was fab as he knows us really well and captured our day, and us, perfectly!”
“We would like to say a huge thank you to all our suppliers and The Leeds Club, everyone who came and enjoyed themselves and helped to celebrate with us. It was such a special day – we loved every second!”
Huge thanks to Helen and Jamie for sharing these special moments from their wedding and to their photographer Anthony Longstaff for allowing us to publish their stunning images. You can see more of his work at www.anthonylongstaff.wixsite.com/home
