We have been obsessed with this dream job since seeing J.Lo in The Wedding Planner when we were tweens. Although, it was so not cool when she ran off with the groom. Possibly one of the most stressful jobs there could be, it takes a certain personality to deal with the trials and tribulations that come with organising a wedding. Here are the 5 things your Wedding Planner won’t tell you.
I Keep Secrets
Yes it’s true. And lots of them. Remember uncle Joe who is fond of the odd tipple and got way too drunk at the bar. Or your two cousins who are total rivals and never see eye-to-eye. Well, they got into a punch-up in the carpark. Totes Awks. But yes, you never saw any of these things on your special day because your fabulous Wedding Planner should have won an Oscar for her role as master puppeteer. At every sniff of a disaster she was always two steps ahead, managing each problem and steering any potential trouble away from you and your partner. Bless.
I Get Pre-Wedding Nerves Too
You think you’re the only one who can’t sleep the night before your wedding? Think again. Welcome to the life of the average Wedding Planner who goes through the same drill a dozen times a month. Your Wedding Planner is extremely passionate about making your day truly unique. She knows that this is the most important day of your life and ultimately the buck stops with her.
My Ear Piece Isn’t Just For Show
Your Wedding Planner is a quick-mover. The day of the wedding will be super-busy and it requires somebody in charge who can delegate, prioritise and multi-task as if they have 10 hands. So in short, yes the clipboard checklist is needed. And the ear-piece isn’t there to make her feel important. She needs this to communicate the 100 tasks that will help your day run smoothly.
Some Things Are Out Of My Control
No matter how dedicated and organised your wedding planner is, some things are just simply out of her control. No, she can’t play God with the weather and it’s not her fault when a flaky supplier bails at the last minute. But you can bet your granny’s bingo booklet that she will do everything in her power to fix any situation that goes awry. Her goal is to keep you calm and stress-free, and of course she will have a back-up plan for everything that could possibly go wrong.
Stay Focused On The Bigger Picture
Many couples cave with the pressure that comes with planning their big day. Every detail will be argued over and the weeks prior will probably feel like an up-hill battle of fighting and irritation. Your Wedding Planner will be too polite to say this but please keep in mind what is really important about your celebration. Your love and new commitment will bring you together to begin the next phase of your life as a family.
