Hands down, an outdoor wedding is amazing way to spend your big day if it’s in summer. If you’re lucky enough to live in a great climate or you’re having a destination wedding, there are so many aspects to consider. Here are some tips for an outdoor wedding!
Back up Plan
Make sure that you have a suitable alternative, even if you’re positive that the weather is going to be perfect. Because we can’t control the weather, there is always a reason to have a good back up. An indoor shelter, umbrellas, heaters should be back up options that are waiting and ready to be used if needed.
Food
Having food that won’t spoil easily is essential. Avoid food with dairy products or fresh cream cakes – basically anything that will spoil easily or could cause food poisoning.
Chair Covers
If you’re sure the day will be scorching, chair covers are very important. Sitting on a roasting hot seat can be hugely uncomfortable on a summer’s day – using light chair covers will avoid this.
Sun Protection and Bug Spray
A hot day will definitely require some SPF! Not all of your guests may think to bring sun protection, so why not offer travel-sized bottles to guests? Bug spray sprayed at your ankles and wrists will also be very important if your reception will be near woodlands.
Wedding Attire
For your bridal party (and of course yourself), consider how the attire will fair up throughout the day. Light cotton clothing is the best option and avoiding full length if possible. Remember to provide your bridesmaids and flower girls with light shawls just in case the weather is a little chilly.
Staying Hydrated
Combining a hot day with alcohol can be a dangerous mix for dehydration. Make sure there is plenty of cool water available to your guests throughout the day.
Now all you need is the amazing sunshine!
