Wakehurst offers three spectacular areas for your wedding ceremony or reception:
- The Elizabethan Mansion
- The Millennium Seed Bank
- The Croquet Lawn to house a marquee or tipi tent
The Mansion dates back to the 16th Century and is steeped in history, with views over our beautiful gardens and lily pond it is the perfect backdrop for your wedding. You will feel like Lord and Lady of the Estate in this grand venue! Also licenced for ceremonies it means your wedding can take place all under one roof. There is also the option of an outdoor wedding ceremony in front of the Mansion in warmer months of the year.
Inside the Mansion there are three banqueting rooms; the Dining Room, the Gallery and the Library. Each room is licenced for civil ceremonies and can be used for a wedding breakfast and evening reception. All rooms are on the ground floor and are linked by a beautiful foyer with sweeping staircase. The space can be utilised as you wish and we can discuss the possibilities during your showround of the venue.
The Croquet Lawn is a large flat space located adjacent to the Mansion itself and is the perfect foundation to house a marquee for larger weddings of 100 to 200. The setting is tranquil, quintessentially charming and will be sure to impress you and your guests. With a range of marquees available from our exclusive suppliers, you can create the wedding of your dreams.
The Millennium Seed Bank is a hub for cutting edge science and aims to house 25% of the world’s seeds by 2020. It is world-famous and one of a kind. The building itself is a huge glass atrium and therefore in contrast to the Mansion provides a more contemporary vibe to your wedding. We can host standing receptions in the MSB and have space at the back of the building to house a marquee or tipi for the reception.

Meet the team on Sunday 23rd June between 11am-3pm to experience a day of wedding splendour. The beautiful 16th century Mansion will be dressed for a wedding filled with inspiration and ideas for your special day. Meet the wedding team and discuss how they can turn your wedding dreams into reality at Wakehurst. The specially selected recommended suppliers will be on hand to discuss decorations, cakes and additional enhancements to your day too.
