Know your budget!
This is so important, because you don’t want to go into a bridal boutique with no particular budget in mind. You will be shown the most expensive dresses, that you realistically can’t afford to buy from your wedding budget. What’s worse, is if you find ‘the one’ and it’s completely out of your price range. If you let the staff know your approximate budget, you will only be given gowns in your price range.
Start early!
Between the lengthy process of trying to make a decision and getting alterations, you need to start the wedding dress hunt early on in the planning process. The run up to the wedding can be stressful enough, without the thoughts of your dress not arriving on time, or not fitting on the big day.
Come prepared!
This means wearing a similar kind of underwear that you might like to wear on the wedding day. Some brides like to treat their grooms to some sexy wedding night lingerie. Think about how it might look under your your wedding dress. Even If you don’t plan to have a strapless dress for the wedding, bring one for the fittings, just so there are no unsightly bra straps. If you have a certain hair piece, bag or shoes that you are going to wear on the wedding, bring them too. It’s hard to match colours or imagine what everything will look like together.
Have an open mind!
Loads of brides say they wouldn’t even dream of a strapless/backless/short dress, but you don’t know until you try. Even if you try on a dress you don’t like, there might be an element too it that you do like. It can give you a better idea of what you do and definitely don’t want!
