Wedding Table DIY Décor

DIY décor

When it comes to your wedding, table décor can sometimes take a backseat. Although décor is hugely important, other expenses  can often get in the way of your décor plans such as your wedding dress, the cake, the band, and pretty much everything else. One way to solve this problem is to DIY your décor! Its fantastic because not only can you save on pricey generic décor, it’s a fantastic hobby to take up on the weekends leading up to your wedding day! And it gives  you an excuse to get the girls round and have a catch up while doing so.

DIY  means a more personal wedding day. It’s a practical solution to keeping your costs down and it’s also a great way to get the exact décor you’re looking for. Here are some tips on DIY décor.

Reuse Heirlooms

See what interesting trinkets your parents or grandparents may have for your decorations. Does your mom have a vintage cakestand? Do your grandparents have some cute old teacups that may be chipped (perfect for candle votives)? Ask around and bring all the items together- they could make for a perfect vintage look.

Photograph Table Centres

Make your reception more intimate and include personal family photographs. Why not use old wedding photos as part of a theme for your wedding. Its a great way to pay homage to them and it’ll really get your guests talking!

Guest Contributions

Do you have an aunt who makes amazing cupcakes? Ask a guest to make something special as part of your wedding (you could also ask for it to be your gift for the wedding). Or do you have a friend who loves taking photos? Ask them to set up a DIY photobooth in a space near the reception. These are everywhere at the moment and make for fantastic memories afterwards!

Personalised Thank You Notes/Décor Stationery

Handwritten looking designs are hugely popular right now, so why not create all of your décor and thank you notes by hand? Buying pretty paper can be more economical when purchased in bulk and may actually save you in the long run when you consider printing and design costs. It’s a great way to make your Thank you notes look more unique and more you!
