A beautifully classical wedding bursting with bright blooms…
When the lovely Julie sent us details of her seaside wedding at the Best Western Glendower Hotel, one line stood out a mile.
She said, “We both felt we wanted more. Being together was not enough.”
After a tough year in the lead up to their big day, these two only had eyes for each other. Julie sadly and unexpectedly lost her mother and two weeks later, illness struck Nigel when he was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome. At one stage, the couple thought his paralysis may result in him being in a wheelchair. But, from love comes strength, and he stood proudly waiting for his stunning future wife at the top of the aisle.
Surrounded by family and friends, there was laughter and tears as the bride and groom tenderly exchanged vows and Julie’s son Mark gave an emotional speech. The heartfelt moments from their special day certainly struck a chord with us in the WeddingDates office!
Happily ever after starts here…
The Beginning…
“We are both outgoing people of similar ages. We met in our forties and married in our fifties. We met whilst working in the same hotel together in 2005. He was one of the Managers and I was a Shift Leader on reception. He asked me to marry him just before our staff Christmas bash in 2005 and gave me my ring at the party.”
On The Venue…
“We checked a few venues before we found the Best Western Glendower Hotel. Immediately on arrival, we just knew it was the place we wanted to get married in. From the atmosphere and the surroundings to the staff, everything felt perfect!”
“Every staff member made us feel at ease on the day and the atmosphere was perfect for us; from the chair covers and bows, the beautiful flower arrangements during the wedding ceremony and the layout of the room for our wedding breakfast. The professionalism of the team was outstanding, especially Hailey the Operations Manager, who made our day complete. We would like to say a huge thank you.”
On The Photographer…
“Sheila of Dove Photography had done my daughter’s wedding two years earlier. She is very friendly, but also on the ball and gets the job done with very little fuss. We subsequently became friends and when I asked her to come to our wedding, she insisted that she do our album – which we were very excited about! We couldn’t be happier with our pictures.”
On The Dress…
“My wedding dress fell through only 10 days before the wedding! I was recommended to a new shop that had just opened in Blackpool called Moments in Time. The Owner, Gill, was amazing and I got a new gown the day beforehand. I felt like a princess for our entire wedding day.”
A huge thank you to Julie and Nigel for sharing their special day with us and to their photographer Sheila of Dove Photography for allowing us to publish these touching moments. You can see more of her work at www.dovephotography.co.uk
