Who You Should Invite to Your Wedding

Filing down a wedding guest list has to be one of the most challenging aspects of planning any wedding. After you’ve come down from the high of telling everyone you’re engaged, it’s time to get to work! Here are some tips who you should invite to your wedding.

Coworkers

This is usually the biggest issue for people when planning a wedding, especially if you work for a big company. Ask yourself would you invite this person to a dinner party, if the answer is yes it’s a good indicator of whether or not you want them at your wedding.

Plus one

A very tricky topic, should you give your single quests a plus one? Plus ones can really double up your invite list. Some guests may not need or want a plus one if they are single so the general rule should be if:

  • They are married/engaged
  • Living together
  • In a relationship for longer than 6 months

Other than that it’s a no. Let your guests know that after the final Save The Date replies have come back that you will see if there is extra room.

Old Friends

Are you on the fence about a few people? Trust your instincts. If you haven’t spoken to them in a few years or you fell out, you shouldn’t feel obliged to invite them to your wedding. Don’t succumb to any pressure your family might put you under. If that person still means something to you, it’s worth considering. Otherwise, it should be left alone!
