We all know the winter months can be harsh on our skin and no bride wants to walk down the aisle with dry skin or cracked lips!
Once you set the date, it’s not a bad idea to start a more regimented beauty routine. Not only will it help prepare you for your wedding day close-ups, but it will also be a way for you to create a little ‘me time’ between work, wedding planning, and everything else life throws at you along the way.
See some of our top tips to follow leading up to your winter wedding day for glowing healthy skin.
Drink LOTS of water!
Okay, yes, this one is a no-brainer. However, we’re all guilty of forgetting to hydrate, especially when we’re busy. So another reminder can’t hurt! Plus, hydrated skin is ideal for any bride looking for more flawless makeup application and a healthy glow.
Exfoliate
It’s easy for our skin to get congested and dry during the harsher weather, so remember to get rid of that dry skin by exfoliating regularly. No one wants flaky skin on their wedding day!
Moisturize!!!
The cold winter air not only makes our faces dry and patchy but also dull. In addition to exfoliation, we should all be moisturizing daily to keep our skin plump and hydrated. Again, the better your skin looks the better your makeup will look in those treasured wedding photos.
Professional Facials
If you’re looking for some extra help in your preparations, it’s not a bad idea to look into professional treatments. If anything, this will be a way to relax and let someone else pamper you for an hour. But, if you have major concerns that bother you, seeing a professional well in advance can’t hurt. They can help design a personalised skin regime and treat any skin issues with repeat appointments leading up to your shining moment.
Wear An SPF
We’ve been told this time and time again, but this is another tip we should all adhere to. Just because the colder months are a little darker, doesn’t mean that those damaging rays aren’t harming our skin. Wearing an SPF on your face and lips can further prevent skin damage and dry cracked lips!
Keep Things Clean
Now, if you’re reading this you probably already know that washing and cleansing your face daily is a must. Some skin care professionals recommend using your hands while washing your face rather than a cloth that can hold onto bacteria. It’s also important to clean makeup brushes regularly, so they are also a breeding ground for bacteria. Who wants to rub a dirty cloth or brush around on their face?!
Deep Clean
Face masks can not only be a luxurious excuse to hop in the bathtub and relax but if you purchase ones targetting your skin concerns they are the perfect option for a deep clean or to add some extra moisture.
Be Wary Of New Products
Be careful about adding new products into your routine too close to the day. Sometimes our skin takes a little while to adjust to new ingredients and although a product might be working, we can break out or have reactions.
