Sparkling blue skies, views across The Caldera and hundreds of flickering candles in the moonlight…
Inspired by images of their wedding venue La Maltese, Kelly and Tony chose a soft and romantic theme of pretty pastels complimented with candles adorning their reception on June 12th 2015. The bride wore a delicately whimsical lace detailed gown by Laure de Sagazan with a plunging back. Her beautiful sun-kissed look radiated against her floral crown and mermaid style braid, worn for their evening celebrations. The cornflower blue bridesmaid dresses matched the breath-taking Greek Island setting perfectly.
After hitting it off at Tony’s sister’s 21st birthday party, the pair went on a first date only for things to fizzle out. Second time lucky, Kelly was on her way to London on a night out when Tony and his pals hopped on the same train. They swapped numbers again, and he finally swept his love off her feet. A glittering 2013 NYE proposal in Barbados sealed the deal for the pair. Joker Tony lured Kelly to the beach under the false pretense of a fireworks display. He asked that all important question, to which of course she said ‘yes’ and they partied until the early hours of the morning.
“Walking down the aisle and seeing everybody was just so amazing, I thought I was going to be really nervous but I wasn’t, I was so relaxed and happy! I loved that most of our guests had already been on holiday for a week so everyone knew each other and it was just so chilled, just how I hoped it would be.”
“When our registrar pronounced Tony’s name it sounded like he was saying ‘Horny Mitchell’. Everyone was trying not to laugh, including us!!! When Tony and I walked back into the reception after our bridal photo shoot, all of our guests stood up clapping ‘Horny, Horny, Horny’.He still gets called Horny to this day!”
“Our photographer Nikos Gogas was just such a fun guy. Maria our Wedding Planner said ‘I think you’re going to get on great with Nikos’ and she was 100% right! When we first met Nikos it was very relaxed, we met for a coffee on the beach while he showed us his portfolio, from then on we instantly knew we would work well together, he was quirky, had great ideas, and we knew he was going to be a lot of fun. He had so much fun at the wedding, he was only booked until 10pm but he stayed until 2am enjoying the party! We now have lots of photos of our guests partying which are great reminders of what a fantastic party it was.”
“Once we knew we wanted to get married in Santorini, we were a little limited with venues, as we wanted a venue with views of The Caldera but the venue had to be accessible by car as I knew my grandparents wouldn’t be able walk too far or go up too many steps. Our Wedding Planner, the wonderful Maria sent us a list of five venues and La Maltese was one I had already researched and loved the look of, so we made our decision and booked it. We then went on holiday in Santorini and we went to see it for real and it didn’t disappoint! It was just as lovely as the pictures!”
“I had watched some weddings at the venue on YouTube which is worth doing because sometimes pictures can be edited and made to look lovely but on video you get to see the real thing. The view itself was simply stunning! All of our guests were wowed. Both the ceremony and reception were held outside on the terrace, so we got to enjoy the view for the entire day. It was pretty by day and even prettier by night with the 1500 candles scattered around the venue!”
Huge thank you to Kelly and Tony for sharing the details of their amazing destination wedding and to their photographer Nikos Gogas for allowing us the pleasure of publishing these images. You can see more of his work at www.nikosgogas.com
