It’s always tricky deciding what food to offer evening guests at a wedding. Gone are the days of a finger buffet with quiche, vol-au-vents and curling sandwiches – thankfully – wedding food has come a long way and is now street-food savvy.
The options are endless. You can go traditionally British with a vintage van serving mini newspaper cones of fish goujons and chips, add some continental flavour with pizza or even go international with a sushi bar, Asian food or posh kebabs. Best of all, street food is hand-held so you don’t have to think about cutlery or plates.
At Mosborough Hall the private courtyard adjoining the Wedding Suite, is home to an outdoor pizza oven, which has proved to be a big hit at weddings. Guests can choose their toppings from delicious fresh ingredients and watch as their food is cooked in the wood-fired oven. Pizza is a brilliantly versatile choice when catering for a large group, with dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free all catered for – and you can pretty much guarantee that you’ll be keeping your younger guests very happy!
What better way to finish off a pizza feast than with ice-cream. If you want to add a little theatricality to the proceedings, hire in an ice-cream van, but if your budget doesn’t run to that, you can keep it Italian and create a DYI Gelato Bar, with a mouth-watering selection of ice creams and sorbets, sugar sprinkles, fruit sauces, nuts and chocolate flakes. Donut walls – yes, a wall where you hang warm ring donuts. Divine. Or what about an outdoor fire pit with toasting forks and marshmallows? Supervision may be required for the younger guests, but it’s worth it. Add some chocolate dip – what could be better.
And for the adults. A prosecco bar with a range of juices, so that guests can personalise their fizz. Street food at its best.
