Spinning classes are a fantastic way to have an energetic workout. Perfect for burning those calories and keeping your muscles in shape, spinning classes are a great way to tone yourself before your big day.
So, what happens at a spinning class?
Karen in the office discovered recently, due to a genuine misinterpretation of the word, that it actually has nothing to do with spinning yourself around! Basically it’s an area with a whole bunch of exercise bikes. Every rider on a bike is spinning the pedals at a rapid pace. Usually there is loud music playing and an instructor to guide you through the class. A group class can last anything from 30 minutes to an hour depending on how intense the class is. Having the instructor and group classes can be great as they’re a real motivator to keep you on track.
Pros
A great workout
No rain, wind or dealing with traffic
Perfect for all ability levels
No need to wear a helmet!
Cons
You really have to push yourself to your limit (can also be good!)
Classes can be boring or tedious
You don’t get the enjoyment of a real bike, fresh air and seeing the countryside
A good instructor can really motivate and encourage you to push yourself, and will more than likely give you more vigorous workout.
